The Calder Game By Blue Balliet

It all started with an art exhibit. But not just any old art exhibit! The biggest ever Alexander Calder exhibit. Why did his parents give the name Calder to Calder? It was because Alexander Calder was at the time their favorite artist. When Calder's dad has a business trip he decides to take Calder with him. They are going to a small town near Oxford, where Alexander Calder lived. They visit the sites of the town and settle in at their hotel. In the town square there is a strange piece of art by Alexander Calder brought there by a mysterious donor. When the "Minator" and Calder both go missing they call in Yevvette Pilley Calder’s mom. When Mrs. Pilley breaks her back the go to the only other resource they can think of, Calder best friends, Tommy Segovia and Petra Andalee. Will the Calder’s ever be found?

This is a book you can not miss!!! I read this one first then got the other ones, Chasing Vermeer #1 and The Wright 3 #2 I think this book is enjoyable for any age.

James and the Giant Peach By Roald Dahl

James is an orphan who lives with his two hateful aunts after an accident at the zoo that brought his parents to their demise. One day an old man gives him some "magic crystals that he should eat" but he drops them at the foot of a barren peach tree when he trips. All seems to be lost except that a single peach grows on the tree it grows and grows ends up smashing the evil aunts. Little James finds a tunnel in the Giant Peach and goes right in. Along his journey he meets some unusual characters such as a centipede who boasts of his "one hundred" legs of which he only has 42 and a little glow worm that falls asleep with her light on most of the time.

This is a fun book, perfect for kids with a good sense of humor. It is a little bit sad but has a happy ending. There is a movie adaption but I preferred the book. For children 5+.
